I wanted to share a delightful email that I received this week. Although the somewhat random title does not suggest it, the email was in response to a recent parcel I sent as part of the 5 book project.
I asked the recipients to share a story about their part of the world, about the place where their little parcel had travelled to… and this is what has come back from my lovely friend in Kenya:
I sat atop some dark-chested, odorous man on a shaky matatu throttling me and my mortality towards civilisation earlier this week. When I arrived at the small, dusty border town between Kenya and Busia, I was welcomed by an unheard of surprise…. it was an intact parcel from that foreign continent near Antarctica.
Needless to say, it warmed my little equatorial heart no end. Thank you:) It’s lovely to know that I have such amazing friends dotted all over the world. xoxo Gretchen
Another success story for parcel posting happiness.
I would like to add that Gretchen, who is one of the most humbly outgoing people I know, continues to inspire me with her intrepid spirit. She has recently moved from Australia to work in Kenya, braving the unknown and unfamiliar in exchange for adventure and opportunity. Thanks for sharing Gretchen!
